We are thrilled to honor Blue Cross Blue Shield ofArizona and Mr. Rich Boals as our 2010 Promise Ball Living & Giving Honoree. Rich Boals joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona in Rich Boals1971 and was appointed CEO in April of 2003. As a local company for 68 years, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona takes their commitment to Arizona very seriously and aligns themselves with organizations that share a similar mission of enhancing the quality of life for our community and all Arizonans. Rich Boals is very active in the community, and has been involved with countless professional and local organizations including JDRF. We are happy to say “thank you” to this wonderful organization and Rich Boals for their continued support and friendship over the past ten years.

The Willits family is our 2010 Promise Ball Promise Light Honoree and we couldn’t have chosen a better family for this position. Barry, Gay, Nick, Chet & Cal have all been impacted by type 1 diabetes making it’s way into their family but have rallied together to fight the disease and support Chet in his journey. Chet, now 7 years old was diagnosed September 15th, 2008 at the age of 6 after two years of Gay bringing him to different doctors and specialists feeling that something wasn’t right. The family stepped in right away to help Chet manage his new illness. Older brother Nick, 10 and younger brother Cal, 5 help Chet to remember to test before snacks and even help calculate his carbs! Type 1 has certainly not slowed the Willits family down at all, Barry is busy with his law firm, Gay is a successful interior designer, Nick is involved with travel baseball, Chet does soccer, martial arts & basketball and Cal participates in soccer, martial arts and baseball. We are so proud to honor the Willits family at the 2010 Promise Ball!
