Mentorship Program

mentorship program

Two mentor trainings have been held in Phoenix at the JDRF offices.  Returning mentors brought their suggested improvements, which will include adults with type 1 diabetes who are trained as mentors to be an additional resource to newly diagnosed families wanting to speak to an adult who has grown up with type 1 and/or has a lot of experience living with type 1 diabetes. JDRF welcomes all new mentors to the program!

JDRF will be hosting face-to-face mentor trainings soon in other areas of our Chapter including Albuquerque and Tucson. A webinar will also be conducted for those who can not attend the face to face trainings. Check back soon for more details!  Thank you to all our mentors!

Requirements for becoming a trained JDRF mentor include a minimum age of 18 and at least one year’s experience of living with type 1 diabetes. For teen mentors, their parents or guardians must be trained as mentors to serve as the first point of contact to newly diagnosed families and teens.
